Welcome to Trolley, the online journal of the NYS Writers Institute.
For the fourth edition of Trolley, we are putting out a call for submissions from attendees of the 2nd Annual Albany Book Festival, to be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the University at Albany.
The Albany Book Festival brings more than 100 nationally-known and local authors to campus. It's designed to be an inclusive community event offering something for everyone, from romance writing to panel talks with African Writers, Latina Writers, Memoirists, Young Adult, History, to name a few.
At any given time during the festival, attendees can choose from eight different events, from panel discussions in large venues to writing workshops to more intimate conversations with authors in smaller rooms.
For the fall edition of Trolley, we want to read your impressions of the Albany Book Festival.
Did a particular author's talk resonate with you?
Did you purchase a book from a writer you previously hadn't known?
How did authors on a panel discussion work through their differences?
Here is a list of the writing workshops for the Albany Book Festival:

We will accept essays, journalism, poetry, and fiction related to the author talks and workshops presented at Albany Book Festival.
We welcome submissions from UAlbany students, faculty, staff, administrators, emeritus faculty as well as the general public. You do not need to be a published author to submit. Please limit your submissions to 1,000 words.
Deadline is September 30.
Email your submission to Michael Huber, NYS Writers Institute, at firstname.lastname@example.org
More than 5,000 people attended the inaugural Albany Book Festival in September 2018, and our Winter 2018 edition of Trolley featured essays from community members and college students.
Thank you for your interest in Trolley and the NYS Writers Institute.
